I‘d like to welcome all members, new and returning, to UCDMC for 2009/2010. This year promises to build on the success of previous years. The club plans to run hiking and climbing trips both at home and abroad, provide heavily subsidised training for all our members and defend our intervarsity climbing title. Of course all of the above will be achieved having a great deal of fun along the way.
The club is lucky enough to attract a large number of Erasmus and other non Irish students. This
makes it one of the best places in the university to meet a diverse range of people and make lasting
friendships all over the world.
Following on from the precedent of recent years, the club will be investing heavily in the training of
its members. We hope to provide all our members with the skills to hike, climb and mountaineer at
whatever level you aim for.
Aside from organised training, the club has a large number of experienced older members. These
people are highly enthusiastic and passionate about their sport and would love nothing more than a
chance to pass on their knowledge to new members. If you want to learn something, just ask!
Finally, I would just like to encourage all to make the most of the club, get involved, meet new
people. I am very proud to have been elected captain of UCDMC and I would like to wish you a
successful safe and enjoyable season.
